Nearly every Catholic who has engaged in an apologetics discussion with
a non-Catholic can remember, with great clarity, a time when his
knowledge of the Bible was tested - and found lacking.
In the midst of discussing such topics as praying to Mary and the
saints, faith without works, or why Catholics call priests "father,"
your Protestant friend will undoubtedly ask, "Where is that in the
Bible? Show me chapter and verse!"
Caught off-guard, you frantically rack your brain for the passage,
desperate to find anything; even the right book of the Bible will do!
You know that your claim is supported by Catholic teaching, and thus,
it must have its foundation in the Bible. But where?
As you flip through the Bible, you realize with a sinking heart that
you are not going to be able to find the verse in time to make
a difference in this discussion. The right passage has eluded you
